Mish Mash

We had one of these lovely sights this afternoon.  I scrambled to get the camera but the conditions changed so quickly that the colors had faded before I could get back upstairs.  This one is from a year or so ago but same location.

The trees are beginning to have the faintest hint of green on them.  I bet within two weeks, they'll be totally different than now.

Hubby and I went to a blues concert on Saturday night.  Saw Mac Arnold , an old time blues man who has played with all the greats over the years.  He's up there in age but he's still going.  His bandmates are fabulous musicians.  If you ever get the chance to hear them, jump on it.

The goldfinches are singing up a storm outside my house these days and there's lots of them.  The pine siskins are heard occasionally but I figure they'll be all gone quickly.  It is that time again and I think some birds are migrating early this year.

My quilting has been lagging for months now.  I'm actually working on a top but it is taking me far longer to get it finished than it should.  I just get distracted by anything and everything.  This is the original pattern.

I didn't like the way that looked so I changed it up to this following.
Final layout
I didn't have a background fabric that I liked and when I went shopping the local store didn't have what I wanted either.  I wound up getting the pale green and thought it would work fine.  However, not as good as I expected but once its finished and quilted I think somebody will enjoy it.

Perfect Day in the Mountains

Oh, my goodness.  It is the most beautiful day here in the mountains.  About 68 degrees, sunshine, some puffy clouds floating high above and a bit of a breeze.  It's as close to a perfect day as I've ever seen.

The hummers are still buzzing around, although not as many of them as in the past several weeks.  I've tried and tried to get pictures of them on the salvia but no luck getting anything I'd show to anybody else.

My new flower beds put in this year have done nicely.  I'm hoping for even better results next year.
I'm a nut about coneflowers.  They just keep on and on with their loveliness.
A lot of the flowers have done their deed for this year but there are a few that are still blooming away.

Hubby pulled out the tomato plants this morning.  They produced fine but something just decimated the tomatoes before we could enjoy them.  No horn worm but something would bore a hole in the top of the tomato and there'd do.   I doubt we'll plant any next year.  I'll just devote that space to more flowers!!!

Hope everybody is doing well.  I've been keeping up with you guys but have had a really hard time coming here to post.  Please forgive me.

Oh, we went over to a neighboring town last night for a songwriters' showcase.  We figured on a two hour show.  Wrong.  By.  A.  Lot.  The music stopped 4 hours after it started.  Poor performers were pooped.  That was our first time at that performance hall and it's a jewel, especially for such a small town.

We're headed to another small town in the opposite direction next Saturday night to hear a jazz guitarist.  Good stuff.

Y'all take care.

Who Has Touched the Sky?

"Who has touched the sky?"

"Who has seen the clouds as they went singing by?"

"None but the few, the who knew the sun by its first name."

(Go HERE to hear this in all its glory.  Courtesy of Rod McKuen and Anita Kerr and the San Sebastian Strings.)

I've loved this since I was a teenager and have the three album set, The Earth, The Sea and The Sky.

Happy Sunday.  Y'all take care.

Follow Up on Pandora

NO, that's NOT me!!
I've been asked about Pandora Radio.  It is an Internet radio program, not over the air as usual radio.   You can do a search on "what is Pandora radio" and can get an explanation of what it is.   Go to  www.pandora.com and follow the instructions to set up your own radio lineup.  You start by entering a list of your favorite artists and then the program picks songs from those folks, plus others that are similar.  If one comes on that you don't like, you can click the "thumbs down" button and it immediately stops and is removed.

I have only the one station with all kinds of artists, but you can have more than one station if you like.

It will play for quite a while and if you have not clicked on something to indicate you're still listening, it will stop playing and the screen will ask "Are you still there?"   If you click yes, it'll resume playing.  Otherwise, it stops.  Since it is a free program, they don't want to be "playing to empty rooms".

Take a look.  I think you'll like it.   And, NO, I don't have any affiliation with them, just really like it.
