Oh, Happy Day

We're still in the area subject to the influence of Hurricane Isaac but, thankfully, just the outer bands of weather.  Therefore, we took the shutters off the back door this morning and the light streaming in was like a shot of sunshine straight to my soul!!!  It felt like bindings were loosened from around me.

When we put the shutters up, we were expecting to receive the brunt of the storm and planned to evacuate.  As the track shifted westward our forecast changed and we decided to stay home.  Since the shutters were already up, however, we left them there.
Shutters ready to go up.
We go through periods of clouds, blustery winds, rain and then back to sunshine.  So far, we've had very little rain and no unusual winds.

We'll sit tight until tomorrow and then all the shutters will come down.

While it can be frustrating to deal with all the uncertainty, I try to remind myself that its better to be prepared for what doesn't happen, rather than be unprepared for what does happen!!

Stay safe everybody.

Y'all take care.

  2. Yep, we are breathing a sigh of relief too that the storm wasn't any worse than what it was. We were thinking we may need to go down and do clean up on our home in Anna Maria but fortunately, there was very little rain we were told. Poor New Orleans getting hit now. Eerie that it is the 7 year anniversary of Katrina!

  3. Glad everyone is safe! I'm sure it will be nice to let the sunshine in all over the house.

  4. So glad everything is ok with you. And glad you're home to be dealing with it, and not traveling and worrying.

  5. that would be tough to go through every time hurricanes come through! here in NE Tx, we got a few bands of clouds and about 1 minute of rain yesterday. we really needed more.

  6. Glad Isaac changed course and left you alone. Must be weird living with the shutters up but wonderful when you take them down.
