I love cats, but I believe they should be indoor pets. I had my Tiger kitty for 18 1/2 years and he was one spoiled dude from the time I got him at about 8 weeks old until we had to let him go in his old age due to kidney failure.

Aside from the unwanted feces in the flower bed, they are hunters by nature and I don't like to see my birds as their prey. Only about three months ago, I saw four kittens a few months old feasting on a cardinal that one of them had killed in my yard. This poor cat was one of those kittens.
Its sad to think this way, but the thought "there's one less stray cat now" crossed my mind.
I'll step down from my soapbox now.

ReplyDeleteWe have a big problem with stray cats in our neighborhood and also with people who get cats as pets and never let them in the house. It kind of drives me crazy, because they spray stuff on our porch, have gotten into our garage and caused chaos, etc. Now some strays are pregnant and I just wish they had been fixed before that happened. All we need is more stray cats!

Very sad and unfortunately, the same the world over. Trouble is, half the population of our poor, overloaded planet cannot look after itself and certainly shouldn't reproduce, so how the hell are they ever going to look after animals responsibly. Room on that soapbox for a little one :{ ?
